UC Share Link Not Working? 7 Fixes That Actually Help
Troubleshoot UC Drive and UC Browser share links that fail to open, ask for a password, or return no videos.
Most UC share link failures come from a small number of causes: an incomplete link, a private or expired share, a missing password, or a video that UC has not finished processing. Work through the checks below in order. They take less than two minutes and solve the majority of cases.
1. Make sure you copied the full link
The share ID is the part after /s/. If the message app wrapped the link onto a second line, the copy may have stopped early. Open the original message, long-press the link, and use the copy action instead of selecting the text by hand. A valid share ID is usually a short string of letters and numbers.
2. Remove text that the messaging app added
Some apps append a preview or a trailing sentence to copied links. Paste the link into a plain text field first and remove anything that is not part of the URL. If the link contains spaces or line breaks, the resolver will reject it.
3. Check whether the share needs a password
A protected share returns a password prompt. Enter the password when asked, or add it to the link as ?pwd=YOUR_PASSWORD. The password is not the same as your UC account password. Ask the person who shared the folder if you do not have it.
4. Confirm that the share is still public
The owner can delete a share, change its permissions, or let it expire. If the link worked yesterday and now returns "share not found", the link is no longer valid. A new public link from the owner is the only reliable fix.
5. Give UC time to finish processing the video
Freshly uploaded videos may still be transcoding. During that window UC does not provide a playable URL. Wait a few minutes and resolve the share again. If only one file in a folder fails while the others work, this is the most likely explanation.
6. Try a different network or disable the VPN
Some VPNs and corporate networks block cloud storage domains or interrupt large transfers. Switch to Wi-Fi or mobile data and try again. If you use a VPN, turn it off for the download and see whether the link resolves.
7. Use a clean browser session
Aggressive ad blockers, privacy extensions, and script blockers can prevent the page from talking to the API. Open the site in a private window with extensions disabled. If it works there, whitelist the site in your normal browser.
What each error means
| Error | Likely cause | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Invalid URL | The link is incomplete or is not a UC share link | Copy the full link again |
| Share not found | Deleted, expired, or private share | Ask the owner for a new public link |
| Password required | Protected share | Enter the password or add ?pwd=... |
| No videos found | Only non-video files, or a subfolder without videos | Open the root folder link |
| File not ready | UC is still processing the video | Wait a few minutes and retry |
| Link expired | The temporary download token timed out | Resolve the share again |
| Rate limited | Too many requests in a short time | Wait a minute and retry |
When to ask the share owner for help
If you have checked the link, the password, and your network, the remaining causes are on the owner's side: a deleted share, a changed permission, or a file that UC cannot process. Ask the owner to open the share in their own browser and confirm that the video plays. If it does not play for them either, the file needs to be uploaded again.
